Ingredients

For the sandwich
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 4 ounces turkey breast
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices cooked bacon
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  2. On one slice, layer Dijon mustard over the mayonnaise.
  3. Place slices of cheddar cheese on top of the Dijon-coated slice.
  4. Layer cooked bacon over the cheddar cheese.
  5. Add turkey breast on top of the bacon, ensuring it is distributed evenly.
  6. Top with the second slice of sourdough bread, keeping the mayo side facing inward.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Add butter to the pan, letting it melt and evenly coat the surface.
  3. Carefully place the sandwich into the skillet and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
  4. Flip the sandwich gently and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes on the other side.
  5. Press down slightly with a spatula while cooking to help it crisp and melt the cheese.
  6. Once both sides are golden and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwich from the pan.
  7. Let the sandwich rest for a minute on a cutting board before slicing.
  8. Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately.

Notes

Ingredient substitutions: Swap turkey for chicken or roast beef for a different twist. You can also use Swiss cheese if you prefer its mild flavor. Add sliced tomatoes or avocado for extra freshness. For a spicy kick, try adding jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce. If you have leftovers, wrap the sandwich tight and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet on low heat to restore that crispy texture.
