Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs beef chuck roast Use a good quality cut for better flavor.
  • 1 can (15 oz) beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste salt and pepper Adjust according to personal preference.
  • 6 French rolls or hoagie buns To serve the shredded beef.
  • optional Provolone cheese For added flavor, top before broiling.

Method

Preparation
  1. Place the beef roast in the crock pot.
  2. In a bowl, combine the beef broth, water, sliced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the mixture over the roast in the crock pot.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until the meat is tender.
  2. Remove the roast from the crock pot and shred it using two forks.
Serving
  1. Serve the shredded beef on French rolls or hoagie buns, adding some of the cooking liquid as a dipping sauce.
  2. Optionally, top with provolone cheese and place under a broiler for a few minutes to melt.

Notes

Cool the beef and sauce, then store in an airtight container. It keeps in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge before reheating. For best flavor, brown the roast first if time allows.
