Beans and Sauce
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed Bright flavor and crisp texture.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Creates a rich, creamy base.
  • 1 cup milk Adds creaminess and thins the soup.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Adds savory richness and a golden topping.
  • 1 cup French fried onions Provides crunch and classic flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil the green beans in salted water for about 5 minutes, then drain.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and half of the cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended.
  4. Stir in the green beans and half of the French fried onions. Mix gently to coat the beans.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish and top with the remaining cheddar cheese and French fried onions.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra crunch, toast the French fried onions lightly in the oven. For a creamier sauce, add an extra 1/4 cup of milk. To make it vegetarian, use a mushroom-based cream soup without animal stocks.
