  • 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ranch seasoning powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder Divided, use 1/4 teaspoon in sauce.
  • 8 ounces white cheddar cheese, shredded Substitutions: cheddar or a blend of cheeses can be used.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven or air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Spread the frozen fries in a single layer on a baking sheet or in the air fryer basket. Bake according to the package instructions until golden brown.
Cooking the Cheese Sauce
  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes until combined.
  3. Gradually add the milk to the mixture, continuing to whisk constantly until smooth.
  4. Stir in the salt, ground white pepper, ranch seasoning, and 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne powder.
  5. Lower the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens (about 5 minutes).
  6. Once thickened, stir in the shredded cheese until it melts into a creamy sauce.
Assembly
  1. Drizzle the cheese sauce generously over the cooked fries and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For added flavor and texture, consider topping with cooked bacon bits, jalapeños, or sliced green onions. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through.
