Ingredients

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 pieces chicken sausages, sliced Use Italian sausage for a spicier flavor.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Can be swapped with spinach or peas.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth Use simmering broth for even cooking of orzo.
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese Stir in extra for creaminess.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add orzo, chicken broth, and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Stir in broccoli and cook until orzo is tender and broccoli is bright green, about 5 more minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in parmesan cheese.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve warm.

Notes
