Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3–6 medium medium oranges (navel or blood oranges work well) Choose firm oranges
  • optional ground cinnamon or whole cloves for scent Add for fragrance
  • optional clear glue or ribbon for hanging For decoration purposes

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash oranges and pat dry.
  2. Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C) or set dehydrator to 135°F (57°C).
  3. Slice oranges 1/8–1/4 inch thick. Try to keep slices even.
  4. Remove large seeds with a knife or fork.
  5. Place slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Do not overlap.
Drying
  1. Dry in the oven for 2–3 hours. Flip slices every 30–45 minutes.
  2. If using a dehydrator, follow its guide (about 6–8 hours).
  3. Slices are ready when they are dry to touch, slightly translucent, and not sticky.
  4. Let slices cool fully on a wire rack.
  5. If you want, add a light sprinkle of cinnamon or press in a clove while warm.
Finishing Touches
  1. Thread with needle and twine or glue to wreaths.

Notes

Slice thin and even to dry fast and look pretty. Use a sharp knife or mandoline with care. Store in an airtight container when fully cool. Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
