Ingredients

For the sandwich
  • 2 slices slices of bread Can use sourdough or whole grain for different flavor.
  • 2 slices slices of cheese Mozzarella is preferred but can substitute with cheddar, provolone, or gouda.
  • Pepperoni or other pizza toppings (e.g., bell peppers, onions, olives) Feel free to experiment with different toppings.
  • 1 tablespoon Butter For greasing the skillet.
For dipping
  • Pizza sauce Optional, for serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread generously.
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the heated skillet.
  4. Layer one slice of cheese on top, followed by your chosen pizza toppings, and then another slice of cheese on top of the toppings.
  5. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
Cooking
  1. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown.
  2. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until crispy and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 more minutes.
  3. Once the sandwich is golden and the cheese is beautifully gooey, remove it from the skillet.
  4. Slice the sandwich in half and serve with pizza sauce for dipping if desired.
