Ingredients

For the dough
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Provides structure and a tender crumb for the rolls.
  • 1 tsp baking powder Gives a light rise so the rolls aren’t dense.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Balances flavors and enhances the savory components.
  • 1/4 cup milk Adds moisture and helps bind the dough.
  • 1 piece egg Enriches the dough and helps with browning.
For the filling
  • 1 cup cooked and crumbled sausage Adds protein and savory, smoky flavor.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Melts into gooey pockets and adds richness.
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional) Brings fresh, mild onion notes and color.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt. Mix well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup milk and 1 egg until smooth.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in 1 cup cooked and crumbled sausage, 1/2 cup shredded cheese, and 1/4 cup chopped green onions (if using), distributing them evenly through the dough.
  6. Lightly flour a surface, roll out the dough, and cut into squares or rectangles (about 8–10 pieces depending on size).
Baking
  1. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a little space between each.
  2. Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  3. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve warm and enjoy for a quick breakfast!
