Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 450 g flank or sirloin steak
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup queso cheese
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Season the steak with paprika, salt, pepper, and ground cumin, ensuring it’s evenly coated for maximum flavor.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
  3. Once cooked, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into thin strips.
Cooking
  1. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the cooked rice, mixing it well to combine with the remaining drippings in the pan.
  2. Pour the queso cheese over the rice and stir until it melts completely and creates a creamy texture.
Serving
  1. To serve, top the queso rice with the sliced steak and sprinkle with chopped cilantro for a fresh finish.

Notes

Ingredient Substitutions: If you can't find flank or sirloin steak, feel free to use chicken, pork, or even tofu as a vegetarian option. Optional Variations: Add black beans or corn for extra flavor and nutrition or spice things up with jalapeños or hot sauce. Storage Tips: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm in the microwave, adding a splash of water to keep it moist.
